Well, it's April 21, 2020 and we're knee deep in the Corona Virus Pandemic. Time does fly. I hope that I'll be able to get out of this one alive... I did make it of Vietnam without getting shot so it would be a pity if I died from this!! Anyway, I'm still here and hello to all the Techites, and cheers for another month. Have a nice day everyone.

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas; it's December 24, 2019 and I'm here in front of my laptop and listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choire is I write these few words. All my family is in San Antonio and I am here in Fort Worth, Texas. All I have is memories now of Christmas' past and my brothers and sisters and Mom and Dad who have since passed. We used to go to midnight mass then... those were happy times. My big brother has now passed and so has Mom and Dad. Both of my sister's husbands have passed and my oldeest sister's duaghter. Memories and pictures in my facebook page is all I have now, but I do have that. I also remember the Christmas I spent in Vietnam... now that was kind of sad in that everyone was still alive and I kept thinking of my family before I got drunk with the rest of my fellow soldiers then. Memories... well, you all who reads this; have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year and go to church please. This will be one more Christmas Eve for everyone who reads this and thank God for everythink and everyone. Good Night.

Well, it seems that nobody is visiting this site; I guess people from Tech are gertting fewer, and fewer as time go by. It's February 2, 2019 and I made it to another year, LOL. Nobody thinks about our school anymore and our friends from the past. I'm retired and spend my time playing chess, writing short stories and connecting with family on facebook. I'm at Fortworth and most of my family and friends are in San Antonio. Mom, Dad and my brother have passed; all I have left is my two sisters and my kids who are married and have sons of their own. Just thought I'd drop a line and get in touch... Have a nice day.  Click to Enlarge

Happy New Year... today is the 31st of December, 2018 and awaiting the New Year. It's 10:14 right now and I just thought I'd write something down here. I'm remembering when I went to school at Ira Ogden Elementry and all the people I went to school there. Later at Washington Irving Jr. High School and all the people I went to school there. And then much later when I went to Tech and everyone that I went to school there. I suppose there will never be a time or a place like that ever again. Our football team led by the great Sylvester Torres, our track team led by the great Richard Romo, and of course our coaches and teachers. I had shop and my instructor was PE Skloss. He kept everyone in line, I remember. Our English Teacher Giovanna Pantuso... I'll never forget her. I also will never forget our cheerleaders, our majorettes and our Tech Band. All of our dances at the gym and our school friends.; that has stayed with me and probably always will. Have a happy New Year fellow Techites and hoping that 2019 will be a better year for everyone.

This is Carlos Vargas and I have moved to Fort Worth, Texas. It's December 11, 2018 and looks like I will be around for another Christmas and possibly a New Year. Time flies; it seems not to long ago I registered at this site. I don't have a year book of 1963 which is when I graduated, but what I do have is a CD recorded onto Micosoft Word of the 1963 year book. From time to time I go into Word and look at Tech's old buildings from that year and the teachers and some of the students I had classes with. Memories... with the blink of an eye and we are here, and everything is left behind. All my kids are married and have kids of their own. I'm a great grand father now and some of my kids I haven't seen in years. I think of them thougjh. Have a good one.

My name is Carlos Vargas and I graduated in 1963. I am a Vietnam Veteran and was in the US ARMY. I was in Avionics (fixed Helicopters) and later i was Civil Service (Worked at Kelly Air Force Base Until It closed). I play chess on my spare time and write short stories when I'm not feeling lazy. I coached CYO atletics at St. Dominics Church where I ran into Sylvester Torres who was coaching his daughters at the time... he's passed since than. I also ran into Gordon Zombrano who was also coaching his son at Holy Rosay CYO. I also worked at kelly with Gordon. James Albert was also coaching at St Dominics for a year and then I kind of lost track of James. He always used to tell me about when he played in the littlle league world series at Williams Port. I also ran into Manual Battencourt who also coached at Holy Rosary CYO. I palyed football with Manual, Sylvester and Gordon at Irving Jr. High. James Albnert, Gordon Zombrano and of course, Sylvestor have all passed sinche than. I did work with George Valenzuela and Arthur Martinez at Kelly AFB. Gosh I miss those guys. I remeber them as if it was yesterday. I don't remember running into any of the girls I went to school with, though. I probably would not recognize them if I did. I'm not very good with faces. Just thought I'd drop you a line. I'm at if anyone is interested. Thanx...

Class of 1960.  Scrolling down I saw names I remember.  It has been so long ago now since we last walked down Main Street.  A totally different era then of full skirts, petticoats and bobby socks, and here we still are.  I am back home to the house where I was raised off Nogalitos, and I occasionally see Celestino Mora and Consuelo who live nearby, Esther Lozano comes into town and Arthur Lozano is back too, Eddie (Froggy) lives near St Leo's.

Hello everyone,
I have enjoyed all the information and dialog among some of my 1960 graduates.  Also, the photo albums are terrific.

Please check out the CNN ireport on Latinos in America and check out the Garcia segment via the internet.  I was interviewed in Pt. I and Pt. II where we included some pictures of Tech's 1960 cheerleaders.  I am sorry that I didn't mention Tech high but when you are talking, it is a bit intimidating.  Also, check out the segment on La Carpa Garcia, that was my family's circus.  Some of your folks might remember the vaudeville circus playing in San Antonio.

I am looking forward to attending our 50th reunion.  My husband, Dave and I will be able to attend.  Take care, Amelia Garcia from the Buckeye State.
